what a tulle

I think a tulle skirt is in every girls psych. From a young age we behold graceful ballerinas in their tutus And girls of a certain age (me) will remember trying to carefully recreate Madonna's 80s image. It's no surprise then that Carrie's outfit in SATC remains so iconic... There is something to joyous about it.  It's a material that is coating our fashion sphere at the moment... my latest obsession is Molly Goddard. Her gorgeous creations are the perfect mix of a barbie birthday cake and Grayson Perry. If like me, your budget is only stretching to barbie's wardrobe but your sights are set on Anna Della Russo's then look no further that this net skirt style hack

This is the best net/tulle skirt that I have found on the high street. It's a gorgeous soft pink colour, has a gathered tier and the perfect length (for me 😉) . Topshop £65 What I don't like about it is the naff poly/cotton lining and cheap grosgrain waistband. But have no fear, this is easy to remedy...

Begin by removing the lining.... looking better already. Then cut off the zip carefully and unpick the waistband. Discard all. Sew up the hole made from the zips. Attach the outer and under layer together 1cm from top edge.

Next find some elastic in a neutral colour about 3cm wide, cutting it to the length of your waist. Then you will need to create a channel for the elastic by stitching the two layers together 3cm below the top row stitching leaving a small hole. Using a safely pin on the end of the elastic, you can thread it through the channel. Sew the ends of the elastic together and close the hole. And remember to give yourself a manicure before posted a huge picture of your hand... gross!

Ta-dar! Fit for a princess or just a dash to the shops for a pint of milk. I've added a spot of neon to mine with a little ribbon from VV Rouleux. Molly Goddard eat you heart out. Now wear did I put my DMs?
